Houmt Souk is a picturesque and lively city, with several souks (markets), small shops and old
districts. The name Houmt Souk itself means something like market establishment. Many of the
commodities on the market geared to tourism, but it is also were many traditional find. The city has a
port which is very important for fishing.
Midoun is a city of Tunisia to the northeast of the island of Djerba. The town itself has 14 137
inhabitants and is the second largest after Djerba Houmt Souk. It is the tourist capital of Djerba, as it

abandoned in 1969 due to the flooding. It is hung on the edge of a canyon where we find fossils and
colorful minerals. The new village Mides is the heart of the palm grove nearby which offers data,
oranges and figs.
Tozeur is an oasis town in central Tunisia. Tozeur is the capital of the eponymous province and
employs 32,400 people. The place is located northwest of the Chott el-Djerid. With hundreds of
thousands of palm trees of the oasis of Tozeur is a large oasis. The dates come from Tozeur are very
well known. In earlier times, when there was no motorized transport, was this oasis of great
importance for transport by camel through the Sahara, which took place in caravans. In ancient times
the city was known under the name Tusuros, and it was an important Roman outpost. In the medina
(old city) of Tozeur, one can find traditional building styles, costumes and crafts. As elsewhere in
Tunisia, the population is generally very hospitable towards tourists, and there are many facilities for
tourism. From Tozeur one can travel by camel, explore the Sahara and know the Chott el-Djerid,
where one can observe mirages.
Douz is an oasis town in central Tunisia, southeast of the salt lake Chott el-Djerid area. This salt is
more normally used for the most part dry. Tourists can make in Douz trips on dromedaries (camels).
From this site, you can also explore the Sahara with a safari. In sunny weather, one can observe in
the Chott mirages.
Medenine is the major town in southeastern Tunisia, In pre-colonial times, Medenine was the main
trading center in the south, attracting merchants from across North Africa and even from Bornu,
south of the Sahara. Ksar housed the main granaries of the various nomadic Berber tribes of the
region.
